Who is Mago Zen?
My name is Zeno Sgaravato, I was born in 1997 in a small village in the countryside near Verona. Eccentric, curious, with a natural passion for storytelling and theatre. That is the person who is Mago Zen. But these are not just introductory words: they are the traits that still define my approach to magic and the stage.
Who I am
A personality built on risk
I have not always been who I am today. There was a time when I was shy. The transformation happened performance after performance, in a self-reinforcing cycle: the more you put yourself out there, the more confident you become. The more confident you become, the better you perform.
This inclination toward risk – what I like to call my “great boldness” – has remained the driving force behind everything. It pushed me to leave alone for Thailand at 17, to work on cruise ships in South America, to show up without an appointment in the most exclusive squares of Porto Cervo in the summer of 2022. Not waiting for opportunities to arrive, but going out to create them.
Style as part of the performance
Every element of what you see on stage is a deliberate choice. Starting from the suit. I take meticulous care of every detail of my look: from the choice of fabric to the final tailoring, everything is made to measure. It is not vanity. It is the understanding that in an exclusive context (a luxury wedding, a corporate gala, an evening on a yacht) entertainment begins even before the performer speaks. The image communicates care, attention, and consistency with the context.
Being unique, even visually, is an integral part of my way of working.
What drives me
Behind every performance there is a clear motivation: to create genuine moments of wonder.
That moment when guests look at each other in disbelief and say “Did you see that?”. When magic becomes a pretext for conversation. When someone who arrived skeptical, convinced that magic was “just for kids”, comes over at the end of the evening and admits they did not expect to feel so moved.
This is real success for me: winning over those who expect nothing.
Lawyer and performer: a conscious duality
In 2023, I graduated with top marks in Law from the Università Cattolica in Milan. This duality is not a contradiction. It is a strength. The analytical precision of a lawyer and the creative sensitivity of a performer feed into each other: the ability to read a situation, build an argument, understand what is needed in a specific context are qualities that belong to both worlds.
